What’s on site

Project overview.

Charging for an electric bus fleet.

Gigawatt Industries delivered EV charging for Stagecoach at Kilmarnock Bus Station, working with EO Charging as part of the operator's transition to an electric fleet in the heart of the town.

The charging installation centred on a Kempower Station Charger C800 with a 50kW DC output, with a Type 2 surge-protection device fitted to the panel board and the existing GRP enclosure and DNO supply worked into the scheme.

A new HV cable route for the substation connection.

The wider works involved installing a new high-voltage cable route to feed the substation connection powering the site. The HV route ran through the town alongside the bus station and Foregate, a busy, pedestrian-heavy setting that demanded careful segregation and traffic management throughout.

Our teams excavated through cobbled and hard-dug ground, laid ducting and pulled the HV cable, then reinstated the block-paved and cobbled surfaces to leave the streetscape as it was found.

From the depot charger to the HV cable in the ground, a complete connection delivered in a live town-centre setting.
