About us

At Gigawatt Industries, we’re not just installing EV chargers, we’re helping build the future of transport. As one of the UK’s fastest-growing EV infrastructure specialists, we deliver large-scale commercial and industrial charging projects for some of the country’s biggest organisations. Demand is growing rapidly, so we’re expanding our teams and looking for talented, driven people who want to be part of something exciting.

The role

This role is central to delivering our projects: trenching for HV/LV cabling, substation foundations, POC joint holes, ducting, feeder pillar bases and reinstatement works, delivered to DNO/IDNO specifications.

You’ll work closely with our electrical and ICP teams to deliver projects safely, on time and to the highest standards.

The role involves UK-wide work, so you must be based within 45 minutes of Doncaster and comfortable working away from home. Accommodation is provided when working away.

Please note: applications without completed pre-qualification questions will not be considered.

Key responsibilities

  • Operate plant machinery for excavation and trenching (NPORS required).
  • Excavate and prepare substation foundations and joint bays for DNO/IDNO connections.
  • Dig and backfill POC (Point of Connection) joint holes to DNO/ICP requirements.
  • Install ducting and drawpits for HV and LV cabling to serve EV chargers and substations.
  • Construct and finish concrete bases for chargers, feeder pillars and substations.
  • Reinstate surfaces (tarmac, paving, concrete and soft ground) to local authority/highway standards.
  • Read, interpret and work accurately from construction and utility drawings.
  • Install and align kerbs and edging to precise levels.
  • Carry out drainage and utility works associated with EV infrastructure.
  • Maintain full compliance with health, safety and environmental standards.

Essential

  • CSCS / CPCS / NPORS (plant operator).
  • SWQR (Street Works Qualification Register).
  • Cat & Genny (Cable Avoidance Tool training).
  • Full UK driving licence.

Desirable

  • SMSTS or SSSTS (site supervision/management safety training).
  • Experience with utility works, drainage or ICP joint bays.
  • NRSWA reinstatement knowledge.
  • Prior experience in EV charging infrastructure projects.

What you'll get

  • Accommodation provided when working away.
  • Breakfast and evening meal allowances.
  • Weekly pay (every Friday).
  • Overtime opportunities (weekends).
  • Vehicle provided for the team of 3.
  • Company pension.
  • Free or on-site parking.

Who you are

You’re experienced in groundworks for utilities or ICP projects.

You know HV/LV cable trenching, substation bases, ducting and joint bays.

You’re skilled in reinstatement and working to DNO/IDNO specifications.

You’re familiar with EV charging or utility infrastructure projects.
